What We Bring on International Trips

We’ll skip past the obvious, like your passport, cash/credit cards, and meds. If you want a comprehensive list, let us know!

1. Travel Adapter →

We travel with many gadgets, including laptops, cameras, and phones. Recently, we tested the Tessan AERO 70 and have really loved what Tessan has created.

Tessan knows that modern travelers don’t need more power—they need a smarter, lighter, and more reliable way to stay connected abroad. Inspired by real traveler frustrations with bulky adapters and unreliable wall sockets, they reimagined the travel adapter from the ground up. The result is the world’s thinnest smart travel adapter, combining an ultra-slim, carry-on-friendly design with compatibility in over 200 countries, making it the perfect companion for international trips.

The AERO 70’s real-time smart display lets you see voltage, wattage, temperature, and charging status, removing the uncertainty of charging expensive devices in unfamiliar places. With 70W GaN fast charging, the ability to power up to five devices simultaneously, built-in safety protections, and an integrated cable that reduces what you need to pack. They just launched on Kickstarter so you can get it for up to $65 off right now.

If you need something in the meantime, we’ve been using the 65W Tessan Universal Travel Adapter.

2. Power Bank →

We use our phones much more when we’re overseas than at home. Whether it’s directing, translating, or constantly shooting photos, our batteries drain quickly. We’ve been switching between a couple of power banks that are over 20,000 mAh to give us 3-4 charges to share.

We can’t wait to try Tessan’s new ultra-thin power bank, which will be out soon!

3. Self-Cleaning Water Bottle →

I used to complain about getting dehydrated on trips, but now we’ve made it a habit of keeping a water bottle with us. When we travel to other countries (and certain cities in the US) where we’re unsure of the water quality, we carry our Larq Self-Cleaning water bottle. If we’re going somewhere where water isn’t a concern, we carry a lightweight Hydro Flask.

5. Lens Jacket →

We love traveling light, so we love any solution that lightens our load. Jacob and his college roommate created the Lens Jacket as a lightweight solution to protect your glasses and sunglasses. Forget the bulky cases, I used to throw my sunglasses in my backpack and hope for the best.

We also both use the Mag Wallet to keep the cards that we need on hand without carrying a separate wallet. Plus it can be used as a stand vertically and horizontally, which is great for watching movies on the plane.
