Veryan Camping and Caravan Club Site is the perfect place to explore the Roseland Peninsula of Cornwall from, and then beyond. A real hidden gem tucked away within the narrow lanes of the area.

Within short walks and short drives you can be at a stunning beach, walking the south coast path or exploring a pretty coastal village.

A very peaceful campsite with unspoilt landscapes all around. Plus extremely helpful and friendly staff. It is a wonderful base to use for your Cornish adventures. We had a fantastic time, roof tent all ready.

Location

The campsite is located amongst the leafy narrow lanes of the Roseland Peninsula, in the area of Tretheake near the village of Veryan.

Within 1 and a half miles you are at the lovely little harbour village of Portloe or the same distance the other way you can explore the pretty village of Veryan itself.

A huge thing you notice when staying here is how peaceful it is with nothing but landscapes around it. Then, on a clear night you can see how remote you are when you look up and see all the stars in the night sky.

Pitch Options

Veryan C&CC has a pitch to suit absolutely all needs. There are spacious grass pitches with or without electric hook-up. There are even Jumbo sized grass pitches for those who need lots of room up to 5m x 9m, again with or without electric.

For those requiring hard standing then again there are plenty of options depending on need. There is a standard yet very roomy hard standing with electric or you you can even go to Super Service Hard Standing. These pitches add to your own electric hook-up with fresh water and waste drainage.

One thing I noticed was that the tree lines and the good space between each pitch created much privacy for all concerned.

Campsite Features

One thing to expect from a Camping and Caravanning Club Site is the facilities being what is needed.

So here is no exception with a block with adequate and clean toilets, showers and washing up areas. Motorhome service point and play area for the young ones.

The site is very dog friendly and there is a big area to walk your dogs (on lead). That being said we found that there are so many public footpaths out the gate that all dogs can be walked so easily.

Shop and Staff

On arrival you immediately get a big Cornish welcome from the staff. In fact every single member of staff you come across here is a joy to chat to. You can really tell they enjoy working here and living in the area. They take pride in making sure you enjoy your stay and make the most of your time with their local knowledge.

You will also find them in the shop that stocks lots of what you need for essentials or last minute and most of it being local produce.

For food treats you will find that on some evenings the hot food comes to you with a fish and chip van or lovely pizzas to enjoy and save you cooking.

Activities and Attractions

The local area itself has lots to explore. Taking the time to walk out on foot can help you appreciate the area.

If you want to head to the pub without driving then you can use the paths and fields to get to the Ship Inn at Portloe or The New Inn at Veryan which are about 1.5 miles each way. Nice uphills on the way back mind, ha.

Even driving a very short distance you can be in some special places beyond Portloe and Veryan. Well within half an hour’s drive you could be in:

The magnificent Mevagissey and the glorious harbour.
Having an ice cream at the lovely Portscatho.
Sunbathing at pendower Beach or hiking the Coastal Path.
Taking in the wonderful Eden Project.
Discovering Trellisick House and Gardens.

The list is endless and you can springboard to so many places around Cornwall from here. For example Fowey and Bodmin are both only around 45 minutes drive from the campsite.

Veryan Itself

One place we passed through or stopped at a lot was the local village of Veryan. It was part of a few walks we did whilst there as well as being a lovely little place to walk around. It also has a well stocked shop for those needing more than what you can at the campsite without travelling far.

It is easy to see why it has been known as one of Cornwall’s prettiest villages.

It has a lovely uniqueness to it and is famous for its 5 round shaped thatched houses that mark the entrances to the village. These little and quirky houses were built in the early 19th century and it is said that they were built round and at the village entrances to keep the devil away. With no corners he could hide behind.
