FLIGHTS, ACCOMMODATION, & TRANSPORT

This is a little obvious, of course, but you’ll want to book flights and hotels as early as possible. I would even recommend flexible booking and setting alerts to as to be able to chase the best deals.
As someone who was lived in Barcelona for the past decade, I thankfully haven’t had to worry about either of these issues. I can, however, offer insight from friends difficulties and wins in the past!
Depending on your budget, staying at a nicer hotel close to the festival may be need imposible unless you lock down a room as early as possible, maybe even before the lineup drops (which is usually in the final month or two of the year). Many artists stay at the Hotel Princess or the new SLS Barcelona (a 2025 sponsor), though many options are available within easy reach of the festival.
If possibly, staying at a place along the L4 yellow metro line or tram line will allow fairly easy (though very busy) public transportation. I myself live in the Gothic quarter and typically go to and from by the L4 metro. Its open 5am-midnight Sunday through Thursday, 5am-2am Friday, and all night on Saturday.
Another option that many of my visiting friends utilized this year was staying in Badalona, just up the coast from Barcelona. It’s a fairly quick travel time and you can likely get a better price on nicer accommodation next to the sea! You may, however, sacrifice easily visiting sites within the city itself if that’s an ambitious goal for you during the festival.
If you plan to go home by taxi, be sure to reserve ahead through apps Cabify or FREENOW in order to avoid a long taxi line as the sun is coming up and you’ve danced 30k steps.
The festival also offers a shuttle service, which while busy, is convenient to get to the city center.
Another option that I’ve found very easy in the past is going by bicycle. Barcelona resident can of course use the Bicing subscription service, and visitors can either stow their bicycles at on-site secure parking or utilize a bike-share service like Lime.
Depending on your physical state and distance for your hotel, walking is sometimes a fine option too! Just be aware that some neighborhoods near the festival may not be the best to stroll through and pickpockets are always working.
I will also say that there is a special local trick for avoiding the worst of the metro lines on the way home at 6am, but I encourage you to meet Catalans on site and ask them about it!
Final note, if you do go by metro, buy your ticket in advance! Grab a T-Casual before coming to the festival in the evening — it’s a ten-ride ticket for individual use. The last thing you want after a great night is to be stuck with the zombies in the morning at an endless line for the ticket machine!
WHAT TO BRING & WEAR

I always see Primavera Sound as the true sign that summer is here, and the weather is more often than not pretty damn great! That being said, you may want to bring a sweater for the evening.
You’ll see many an amazing outfit from fashion forward attendees, just as much as you’ll see standard jeans or shorts and a simple band tee. It’s a European festival and it’s not as “out there” or “in your face” as, say, US-based festivals (leave your totems at home, please).
I like to take a tote bag, which you can either carry with you or easily store in on-site lockers, with the following
- empty plastic water bottle (hide the cap as security will take it off you)
- Hand sanitizer
- Lighter (for yourself or sharing and making friends)
- Shawl or light sweater
- Fan (collapsible paper or plastic kind — but no clacking!!)
- Official cup from the bar (after the first night) to avoid paying for another one
- Power bank (if your phone battery won’t last all night)
HOW TO PLAN YOUR NIGHT

As a 7-time Primavera Sound veteran and admitted music nerd, I would say there are two schools of thought for navigating your night.
Option one, stick to the plan. I like to meticulously pick through the lineup and make sure I don’t miss seeing anyone I’d regret. I usually check the official lineup (also stay tuned to official Primavera social accounts to stay updated on additions and cancellations) and from there make my own personal list in my notes app. From there I take a screen shot of my own lineup and make it my lock screen for the night! Ezpz.
Option two, go with the flow! Maybe there are a couple major acts you want to see, maybe not, but overall you’re there for the vibes and the friends. Honestly this is a great way to find new music and make some amazing memories, just as having a schedule ensures you see your favorites while making amazing memories.
I end up doing a mix of the two, generally sticking to who I want to see but ending up diverting the plan now and then to try a new act some friends suggest or making time for resting, meeting different friends, or grabbing a bite to eat.
The great thing about Primavera Sound id that something new will always come up, and there’s truly something for everyone in terms of the lineup year to year.
MAKING IT TO THE END

Last but not least, non-EU attendees (especially from the US) may be surprised the Primavera Sound is predominately a nighttime festival. Things typically kick off in terms of bigger touring acts around 7 or 8pm, with the final bands and DJs finishing with the Mediterranean sunrise at 6am.
Everyone does their festival differently, but in order to really enjoy this one I always recommend pacing yourself! This could mean starting late, making sure to get a siesta in, and maybe even hitting the coffee stand in the food area before it closes (or a Red Bull vodka at the bar, the world is your oyster).
Bottom line is that you should check the lineup, and make sure to plan a late one if your favorite acts are one of the finishers. There’s also nothing like sharing hours of dancing along the Barcelona coastline and finishing the night with one final dance as the sun comes up! Just be sure to make time to rest and hydrate you’ll have an amazing time.
