Sydney had been on our travel list for a LONG time, but somehow, despite travelling the world full-time since 2008, we had never made it to Australia until recently. We finally fixed that and spent 5 days in Sydney at the start of April. And, I have to say, it lived up to the hype! Sydney is a big city, but many of its top sights are surprisingly easy to connect on foot, by metro, bus, or ferry. We managed to fit a lot into five days (including picking up my wedding dress!!) without feeling like we were constantly rushing from one attraction to the next. There are so many things to see and do in Sydney, but if this is your first trip, I think 5 days in Sydney is a good amount of time. You’ll have enough time to see the famous sights around the harbour, spend a day at Bondi, take the ferry to Manly, eat some great food, and still have time to just wander around. Here’s how I’d spend 5 days in Sydney based on our recent trip. Day 1: Sydney Harbour, the Opera House & Dinner Cruise You can’t come all the way to Sydney and not start with the harbour! Head down to Circular Quay for your first look at two of Australia’s most famous landmarks: the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge....
